Germany based IoT network by melita.io

News

It is predicted that by 2025, more than 24 billion devices worldwide will be connected and networked.  With this in mind melita.io which forms part of The Melita Group based in Malta, is developing an IoT LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) in Germany. This will support innovative mobile technologies such as NB-IoT (NarrowBand-IoT)

“Sensors are the basis of most economic operations and daily life,” explained Tobias Stiepak, CEO at melita.io. “Sensors are in fact the most fundamental piece of technology which enable the Internet of Things (IoT). They aid productivity, efficiency, and the cost-effective processes.  With its LoRaWAN network, melita.io will provide accessibility to this technology regardless of the type of sensor in use, whilst still allowing customers full ownership and control on the data collected.  Thanks to this development by melita.io, businesses and consumers all over Germany will be able to benefit from the advantages of the Internet of Things.”

There are many prospective scenarios, businesses, and operations that can benefit from this technology. From the agricultural industry where this technology can reduce the consumption of water by up to 30%, to the retail world where people and their working routes can be kept in check in real-time.

Melita first launched a nationwide NB-IoT network in Malta, followed by a LoRaWAN network that was launched by melita.io. “We are proud to have made Malta the first country in the EU with a nationwide NB—IoT network,” said Harald Roesch, Melita Ltd’s CEO and melita.io’s Executive Chairperson. “Through Malta we acquired invaluable experience to seek opportunities across Europe.  Together with our investors, EQT Partners, we chose Germany for melita.io’s LoRaWAN network because of the country’s adaptability and the great market potential.  We aim to develop a LoRaWAN network that enables sensor compatibility regardless of the manufacturer or brand.”
